Before getting behind the wheel:
Get adequate sleep before your shift.
Know your hours-of-service limits and follow them.
Take required breaks and use them to rest and recharge.
Don't rely on energy drinks or caffeine to replace sleep.
Pay attention to warning signs such as frequent yawning, heavy eyelids, difficulty focusing, or drifting from your lane.
